NYEWASCO hosted a community baraza at the MOW grounds in Witemere, bringing together residents, staff, and local administrators to tackle some of the pressing issues affecting our services and team. Leading the discussions were Eng. James Ngunjiri, our Chief Manager of Technical Services, and John Wamathai, Senior Officer for Billing and Debt Collection, alongside other dedicated NYEWASCO staff and representatives from the NGAO team.
The baraza focused on two key concerns: ensuring the safety of our staff following recent mugging incidents and addressing the ongoing challenge of vandalism to our infrastructure. Both issues not only endanger our staff but also threaten the reliable delivery of water and sanitation services to the community.
Speaking during the meeting, Eng. Ngunjiri emphasized, “The safety of our staff is paramount. We are committed to putting in place measures that will protect our team and allow them to serve you without fear.”
The residents shared their own experiences and concerns while also appreciating NYEWASCO’s openness and commitment to addressing these challenges. Their feedback highlighted the shared responsibility between the community and service providers in creating a safe and supportive environment.
This gathering was a reminder of how important it is to maintain open communication. By working together, we can create a safer community for everyone while ensuring that the vital services of clean water and proper sanitation continue uninterrupted.
