At NYEWASCO, we believe that access to clean water and dignified sanitation is not a privilege but a basic human right.
In our ongoing efforts to serve unserved and underserved communities, a dedicated team from NYEWASCO, led by Board Member Esther N. Ndirangu (Director representing Pro-Poor at the Board level), Managing Director Eng. Peter Kahuthu, Senior Officer – Billing & Debt Collection John Wamathai, and the Pro-Poor Services team, embarked on a field visit to assess key water and sanitation initiatives aimed at improving lives.
The team visited various critical facilities, including the Bondeni Chania Water Kiosk, the UBSUP (Up-Scaling Basic Sanitation for the Urban Poor) toilets in Witemere and Ruring’u, and the Whispers Park Sanitation Facility.
These initiatives are designed to provide safe and affordable water as well as improve sanitation and hygiene standards in informal settlements and urban areas.
- Bondeni Chania Water Kiosk: This facility ensures clean and affordable water is accessible to local residents, particularly those in low-income areas who might otherwise struggle with unreliable water sources.
- UBSUP Toilets in Witemere and Ruring’u: These sanitation projects have significantly enhanced hygiene and living conditions in informal settlements, bridging the gap in sanitation services and ensuring healthier communities.
- Whispers Park Sanitation Facility: An award-winning public toilet recognized for its excellence in cleanliness, dignity, and environmental sustainability, demonstrating the impact of well-managed urban sanitation.
At NYEWASCO, we are dedicated to ensuring that no one is left behind when it comes to access to clean water and dignified sanitation. Our initiatives in underserved communities underscore our mission to promote equitable service delivery, improve hygiene, and support sustainable urban development.
As we continue to expand our efforts, we invite stakeholders, community members, and partners to join us in making a lasting impact.
